  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar + teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup fresh or Frozen Klaassen Farms Blueberries
  • 2-2&1/2 cup flour
  • Oil for deep-fat frying
  • Icing sugar


  1. In a large bowl dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 2 teaspoon sugar and let stand for a few minutes. Add the milk, butter, salt, eggs and remaining sugar. Then add the flour. Enough flour to form a thick batter. Stir in fresh blueberries.
  2. Cover batter and let rise until doubled. Heat oil to 375 degrees F.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep pan or frying pan. Use 2 metal spoons to shape scoops of dough into balls. Drop them carefully into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides. (2-3 min. on one side). Drain on paper towel.
  4. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
